Eligibility

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

Eligibility comes down to three things: age, where you live, and how your disability affects your everyday life. Here's a plain-English overview — and the right places to get an official answer.

The basics

Three questions to start with.

No one expects you to know the answer to all of these on day one. If you're uncertain about any of them, that's exactly the kind of conversation we're here for — and the official NDIS site has up-to-date detail too.

Age

Generally, you need to be under 65 when you first apply. Children under 9 may access support through the early childhood approach, which has its own pathway.

Residency

You usually need to live in Australia and be an Australian citizen, the holder of a Permanent Visa, or the holder of a Protected Special Category Visa.

Disability

You need a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities — or be a child under 9 with developmental delay who would benefit from early supports.

Important — get the official answer

The information above is a general guide only. Eligibility rules, residency categories and the early childhood approach can change. Please confirm your situation on the official NDIS website and have a conversation with UCCS — we'll help you understand your options.
